Driving Innovation Forward: Plan to Boost Science and Technology Collaboration

The Mainland-Hong Kong Science and Technology Cooperation Committee has unveiled its 2024-2025 workplan, aimed at advancing innovation and technology (I&T) collaboration between Hong Kong and the Mainland.

Alignment with the Hong Kong Innovation and Technology Development Blueprint:

Acceleration of strategic initiatives like the Hong Kong Park in the Loop.

Advancing Industrial and Scientific Collaboration:
Promoting new industrialisation and enabling cross-boundary data sharing in scientific research.
Expanding participation of Hong Kong scientists in national science and technology programmes, providing access to major national research initiatives.

Support for Emerging Scientists:
Introduction of schemes such as the 2025 Hong Kong Joint Research Scheme in collaboration with the National Natural Science Foundation of China.
Joint funding initiatives to nurture talent and drive scientific breakthroughs.

Integration into the National Framework:
Further consolidation of State Key Laboratories in Hong Kong to strengthen ties with national priorities.
Promotion of collaborative projects in the Greater Bay Area to enhance innovation and resource exchange.

Support for large-scale infrastructure projects like:
Northern Metropolis development.
Hetao Shenzhen-Hong Kong Innovation Zone.
Strengthening tech park partnerships to deepen industrial collaboration.

The Innovation and Technology Commission, alongside universities, research bodies, and government entities, will spearhead efforts to ensure the success of these initiatives and foster robust collaboration with Mainland China.
