Empowering Business Excellence: HKGCC Champions Hong Kong’s Economic Growth

The Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce (HKGCC), also known as 香港總商會, is a self-funded, not-for-profit organization dedicated to promoting and representing the interests of the Hong Kong business community.

Established on May 29, 1861, just two decades after the founding of the Colony of Hong Kong, HKGCC stands as the oldest and one of the largest business organizations in the region. With approximately 4,000 corporate members, collectively employing about one-third of Hong Kong’s workforce, it holds a significant role in shaping the business landscape.

Central to its mission is formulating recommendations to enhance the business environment, a task undertaken by its 23 industry-specific committees. These committees continuously analyze pertinent issues and regularly present their findings to officials of the HKSAR Government and policymakers.

HKGCC operates as a member-driven organization, committed to fostering a conducive business environment and bolstering Hong Kong’s competitiveness. Its core services encompass advocacy, event management, networking, and business facilitation. Additionally, it offers vital documentation services such as Certificates of Origin, ATA Carnet, and Certificate of Business Identity through its six branches spread across Hong Kong.

Certification services are available in five districts, making HKGCC the most extensive network of its kind in the region. Since 1920, it has been the sole authorized issuer of ATA Carnet documents, with its certifications recognized globally by consulates, banks, and customs authorities.

The chamber hosts an extensive array of events, including seminars, roundtable forums, conferences, business missions, and networking gatherings, averaging around 500 annually. Furthermore, it conducts regular training programs to enable member companies to enhance their staff’s skills and knowledge.

HKGCC’s diverse membership comprises approximately 4,000 companies, ranging from multinational corporations to SMEs and startups, spanning Hong Kong, Mainland China, and international territories. Together, they employ approximately one million individuals, significantly impacting Hong Kong’s workforce.
